Modern Animal’s Flagship location opened in the Spring of 2020 as an essential business located in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of Los Angeles. Fathom Development services worked as an extension of owner representation. We took a deep dive with this next-generation veterinary company to locate an ideal site, structure the lease, obtain City approvals for change-of-use permits and bring this brand to life by providing design management and construction management. From conception through realization, we helped Modern Animal to realize their first store-front location. This modern, happy setting makes the most of natural light throughout the space, and uses technology and interior design to provide a comfortable experience for pets, pet owners, and veterinarians. 

The creative firm Design Bitches envisioned a truly transparent home for the veterinary clinic, where visitors can see from the street straight through to the treatment areas. The entire experience of visiting an animal clinic, from entry to treatment, was equally considered, adding elements of home and comfort, such as a lounge, mother’s room, and kitchen area for the use of pet families and veterinarians alike. To enhance the experience, designers eliminated the barrier between the front customer areas and the back of the house using materiality, spatial adjacencies, and natural light to blur the line between traditionally separated zones.
